Nice to meet you!

If you're reading this, I'm going to guess one of the following things is true:

  1. You're trying to make your relationship work, but it feels like you keep getting sucked into the same arguments over and over again and you don't know how to break the cycle.

  2. You identify as LGBTQIA2S+ and are looking for a therapist in Nashville who celebrates and embodies queerness rather than simply calling themselves affirming.

  3. You're an actor, musician, dancer, writer, filmmaker or other creative trying to find a therapist who understands the struggle of making art in an increasingly oppressive system.

If you identified with any (or all) of these things, we probably have a lot in common. I know what it's like to grow up "different" in a place like Williamson County. I know how hard it is to find a queer-affirming therapist, let alone a therapist who is actually queer themselves. I know how defeating it can be to pursue a career in the arts when the economic and political landscapes are marked by uncertainty.

I sought out a career as an LGBTQ therapist in Nashville because I wanted to provide the services and support I didn't have access to growing up in this part of the country. If you're looking for a therapist who "gets it," we may be able to do some kick-ass work together.

The fact that you even made your way to this website tells me that you're motivated to make a change and find a new path forward. You deserve props for making it this far, and I'd be honored to play a part in your next chapter — whatever that might look like.

My Approach

Narrative Therapy

Developed by Michael White, BASW, this model focuses on helping clients separate their problems from themselves so they can re-author their life stories in ways that reflect the full spectrum of their unique experiences and capabilities. In sessions, I often use narrative techniques to help clients from marginalized backgrounds identify how cultural narratives have impacted their self-beliefs so they can craft more value-aligned identities.

The Psychobiological Approach to Couple Therapy
(PACT)

I am a certified in level one of the Psychobiological Approach to Couple Therapy (PACT). This model was developed by Dr. Stan Tatkin, PsyD, LMFT and focuses on moving clients away from dysfunctional, individualistic behavioral and thought patterns and towards collaboration and secure functioning. In sessions, I help clients attune more effectively to one another's nervous systems and develop mutually beneficial agreements to help them embody their shared purpose.

Person-Centered Therapy

This humanistic approach was created by Carl Rogers, PhD. As a person-centered clinician, I believe that my clients are ultimately the experts on their own lives. In sessions, I encourage clients to discover and articulate their personal values and identify areas of their life in which they may be living outside of those values.

Feminist Therapy

Contrary to what the name would lead you to believe, this approach is not just for clients who identify as female. Rather, the set of theories that inform feminist therapy practices focus on how systemic oppression can contribute to the distress experienced by those with marginalized identities. I believe it is nearly impossible to separate my clients from the oppressive systems that impact them. In session, I'm not afraid to call out the ways misogyny, racism, classism and —yes— even capitalism affect the health and well-being of my clients.
